The DON'Ts of a Phone Interview
While engaged on a phone interview, DO NOT

• smoke, eat, chew gum or suck a candy - why? Your voice will not be distinct and will be muffled. The person on the other end will not be able to fully understand what you are saying.
• ramble - do not be long-winded. Keep to the point and make sure you answer the questions directly and be precise.

Yes, I'm back with interview tips - the 'do's' of the phone interview and this is the final session on 'do's'. Next, I'll touch on the 'Don'ts'.
What has SMILE got to do with the Phone Interview? You can't be seen anyway. The answer is YES! It's very important. Smile to project a positive tone in your voice and your image. You want to let the interviewer know you are happy to be interviewed and excited about the job at hand. Finally, remember to send or email a "Thank You" note immediately after the phone interview to reiterate your deep interest in the position. Try the techniques I blogged about. They really work!

A record 52 000 people attended the ST Job and Career Development Fair held on 13 and 14 July 2013 at the Marina Bay Sands.
