The first thing to do is to identify a list of typical questions that are likely to be asked during the initial phone interview. This list can vary. It's good to do some research and ask around for clues and examples of such questions.
Next prepare in advance and prepare well by compiling a list of your strengths and weaknesses and achievements in relation to the typical interview questions.
Next rehearse the scenario a few times till you are able to answer questions naturally and convincingly.
