UK Brain Drain

The Daily Telegraph this week reported that the UK would experience a brain drain, hurting the UK economy. 48% of UK immigrants were in the professional or managerial roles who left in search of higher salaries, lower taxes and better weather. Some 40 000 of them are working in Singapore. According to the news report, the very people who could provide impetus to the UK's ailing economy are leaving at the rate of 150 000 a year. This is certainly a cause for concern.

Personalised Employment Pass [PEP] for Foreign Talent

The Singapore Ministry of Manpower has announced tightening the criteria for the PEP to take effect from December 2012. Among the new criteria announced include PEP applicants must earn at least S$144 000 per year and this non-renewable pass will be valid only for three years.
We will have to wait and see the impact this would have on the employemnt market. But one thing is for sure - foreign talents seeking employment opportunities in Singapore must produce a first-class, outstanding resume!
